I went flying from Kendall Tamiami Airport today. I rent my aircraft, a Cessna 172 Skyhawk, from Panair Flying Club. I was doing touch and goes in a 15 knot crosswind on runway 9L (niner left). That's not a big problem, but what made it difficult was the low lying scrub just above the N on the left side of the image. What happens is that as the wind blows over the scrub it causes some nasty turbulence that makes landings tough. I kept at it for an hour. My landings did get progressively better. When I called the tower to tell them I was coming in for a full stop I requested 9R (niner right) on the other side of the airport. That made a huge difference in the quality of air I was landing in. The field next to 9R is cleared which allows the air to blow smoothly across the runway. No turbulence.
